If you raise sheep life never gets dull!
We had to move the Tunis Ram to the barn across the road. He gets pretty aggressive with the other rams around breeding season, and he needs to be penned up.
Delaney feels sorry for him over there, and decided to put up a make shift pen to let him graze outside the barn. I was told about the plan after the fact, and after it was discovered that he was no longer in the pen and nowhere to be found!
After looking for about an hour with no luck, I started getting worried. The property has open fields and woods, which house coyotes, not the safest place for a lone sheep to be wondering around. After searching that area, I took the 4 wheeler over to the hay field, thinking maybe he seen the sheep and worked his way across the road and was pacing the fence line. I was just about to give up and head back to the barn, when out of the corner of my eye, I seen something running toward me. It was him! He looked happy to see me.
I figured I would drive home, and get help to bring him back. It ended up not being necessary, as he followed me all the way back to the barn. I wish I had my camera with me...
I doubt he learned his lesson, but I am glad he was found.
Sigh of relief! It could have ended badly-grateful that it didn't.

Glad he was fine. How funny he followed you back! He must've been ready to feel safe again.
ReplyDeleteAw, poor guy must have been relieved to have someone show him the way home!
ReplyDeleteYes, he was definitely in an area he was not familiar with.
DeleteI have one that thinks chasing the ATV is great sport. You never know where there might be a cookie.
ReplyDeleteHaha :) I am glad he chased me all the way home :)
DeletePhew! So grateful you found him hale and hearty!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to visit us on The Maple Hill Hop this week!
Okay, I'll try again getting the typing right! Wow, what a day you had, I'm sure you were stressing the whole time that you were searching. I'm glad that he was found safe and sound. Maybe he'll decide that the grass isn't necessarily greener somewhere else....
ReplyDeleteI hope so! The rams are just restless this time of year.
DeletePoor guy probably got lost and was relieved to see you! Glad everything turned out okay.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe have had a naughty goat here lately. He can escape the barn even with the doors closed. Glad you found him.
