This time of the year we are itching for Spring, I know it is kind of early, but we are ready...
The sheep were stuck in the barnyard for a short while when the temps were below zero.
They are happy to be back out in the fields. We have been able to keep Emmet with the ewes. He is a mild mannered Ram and it is just easier to keep him with the ladies.

We do have a few Tunis ewes that are in the barn in the next stall over, so he is not alone. We are waiting for them to lamb.
This guy is growing like a weed! It wasn't easy getting a usable shot, he was all over the place.
We are tired of winter, but I do have to admit, not as tired as we were last year! This has been a much more friendly winter, thus far!

ReplyDeleteWe have had a week of unbelievably nice weather. Yesterday was 62* here. Cooler today and the wind is howling.
Thank You Robin. Just two more to go in the colder weather. Hoping for some really nice weather in April for our main lambing season. it is always a toss up!

ReplyDeleteWe had a small flock of dorpers for awhile. The ram was AWFUL and is one of the reasons we no longer have the flock.

Yes, Rams can be awful! Our BL's have been pretty docile, we still pay attention when we we are around them, because they can be pushy, especially during breeding season. We purchased the Tunis and they are much more aggressive, I think. The one we have now is okay with us, so far-but not with any other males-sheep or goats.
