I went to a workshop in November and one of the things they were making were Christmas Ornaments using wood slices.
They were rustic, and I loved the idea. We have been cutting quite a bit of wood, so it wasn't a problem finding some branches that would work. Mike used one of his power tools to cut the branches into slices. (He said it sounds easier than it is) He also had to drill a small hole for the cord.
If you like perfection, you won't like these. They all come out a little different. Some with all of the bark, some with a little and some with none!
I decided that I wanted to paint mine-I chose black.
I used a white ink pad and some cute, ready made stamps. (I am not an artist)
Paint, let dry.
Attach a hanger (string, twine, cord etc)
|(Mike still needs to drill holes in this set)|
You can get really creative with these.-Chalkboard paint and chalk, stamps, free hand artwork, paint or raw wood etc...
We enjoyed making them, and the girls really liked how they turned out. Our favorite...the Snowman!
