Pasture Happenings

We have had some snow this week but not enough to stay. The days are getting shorter and the temps are falling.

The Border Leicester's and Romney ewes are out in the pasture with Emmet.

He looks worn out! You can see the Ram harness did not stay in place, we have had to go out there twice and put it back on. We use a Ram harness so we can tell when and if the ewes were bred.
I will change the color this weekend. He will stay out in the pasture for about 3 more weeks with the ewes.

The Tunis Ewes are with the Tunis Ram (who has yet to be named)  in the barnyard. They will stay with him for about 3 more weeks and then they will rejoin the other ewes in the pasture.

Delaney checks the ewes each morning and is keeping good record of numbers and dates. Have I mentioned how much I appreciate this shepherdess of mine?  I am grateful for her enthusiasm when it comes to raising sheep, she keeps us on our toes!

Here come the Romney Ewes, they come up to greet anyone who walks out into the pasture!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day!!

  1. Emmet may look worn out, but I'd say the ewes are looking pretty relaxed too. ;-) Your shepherdess is doing a great job. Record keeping is so important.

  2. Emmett sure does look worn out. Hopefully from doing such a good job! You sure are lucky to have someone who loves the sheep as much as you do and is good with them and takes such great pictures.

Thank you for stopping by the farm!

We appreciate your comments!
