I have been busy making messes in the kitchen and haven't been tending the animals much. Thankfully, the girls take good care of them and they haven't been getting neglected.
The ewe lambs are growing and will stay out in the pasture with the older ewes until the Ram gets put out, which won't be for a little while yet.
The Ram Lamb which has been named, Gatsby is finally"manning" up a little bit and has been quiet the last few days. Thank goodness!
We put a few Tunis ewes in with the Tunis Ram for February lambs. Not something we normally do but the younger girls have talked us into letting them show market lambs at fair. Spring lambs would never be ready. Not looking forward to winter babies but with just a few ewes it should be manageable!
I hope everyone enjoys the weekend!
Great Gatsby ! Sorry love saying that, he is a handsome fellow :))
ReplyDeleteHAve a wonderful weekend.
The girls name the sheep, they always seem to end up being book characters, movie characters, or OLD fashioned names. :)
DeleteLambs in February in Michigan. You're a brave woman.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know. BUT no fair lambs if we don't!
DeleteI love seeing your sheep in pasture. Their color is something I don't see much around here but then again, it is even rare to see a sheep period. This is cattle and hog country - period.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We have a few amish families that raise sheep in our township. Lots of cattle too!
DeleteI guess "period" is my word of the day.
ReplyDeleteOur kids show market and breeding lambs. We are getting geared up to go to the final show of the year the second week in October.
ReplyDeleteI visited your blog, good luck with the sheep show :)
DeleteBabies will be fun...even in winter.
ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful and well cared for...lovely shots! :)
